Visual artist R.E. “Tanto” Hartanto returns with 10 portraits four years after his last solo exhibition.
This time, Tanto offers something very unlike his previous works, which featured large canvases with solid-colored backgrounds.
Tanto has explored portrait painting for an exhibition titled The Portrait Museum of Doctor Rudolfo by traveling around Bandung and Yogyakarta to create pictures of ten fellow painters: Handiwirman Saputra, Agung Kurniawan, Mella Jaarsma, Tita Rubi, Radi Arwinda, Cinanti Astria Johansjah, Ay Tjoe Christine, Bunga Jeruk, Agus Suwage and Jumaldi Alfi.
The exhibition is open to the public at Bale Tonggoh of the Selasar Sunaryo Art Space in Bandung, West Java, until Sunday.
