To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) Agency has temporarily closed Mount Bromo for tourist from March 19 to 31.

According to the agency’s head John Kenedie, park rangers will still patrol the area during closure, but some of the management’s activities will be reduced.

“During the closure, we’ll take preventive measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus among our employees, such as conducting online internal and external meetings, postponing out-of-town trips and implement a healthy lifestyle,” Kenedie said in a statement received by The Jakarta Post on Monday.

He said the agency would evaluate the policy to decide whether or not they would prolong the closure.

“The health and safety of the visitors are our number one priority.”
