Car manufacturer PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) has developed a digital platform, Honda Racing Simulator Championship (HRSC), which has been serving as the stage for the first simulator race in the country. More than 200 racing and gaming enthusiasts participated in the qualifying round held from June 15 to July 4.

Currently, as many as 60 virtual racers are left to participate in the race’s second round, which was held virtually at the Suzuka and Sepang international circuits in Japan and Malaysia, respectively. The final stage will be held on Aug. 29.

Honda also plans to introduce an app-based drifting race game dubbed “Brio virtual drift challenge” that uses Honda Brio as its car model. The game is to be introduced in August.

PT HPM’s business innovation, sales and marketing director Yusak Billy said the company had pledged a commitment to popularizing car racing in Indonesia by expanding its virtual racing activities.

“We believe that the virtual racing activities will bring joy to more people, especially during this pandemic that has restricted people from doing many outdoor activities,” he said.

The two racing platforms add to the collection of the manufacturer’s virtual races. Meanwhile, a virtual competition of a different type, the Honda Brio virtual modification #3, has been running since May.  More than 700 gamers have sent their works of modification for the competition, which is being held for the third time and takes the theme “racing garage” this year.
